Bowl Show Rules

General Rules

  • Arrive early and complete your entry by 4:45 pm.
  • Bring your fish in a bare bottomed drum bowl or a similarly flat sided container (no gravel, plants, decorations, etc.).
  • Pick up a registration form from the designated "Bowl Show" table for each entry. Complete the form and return it to the table in front of your entry. One entry per bowl/tank.
  • Entries will be judged by attending members. To judge, pick up a judging form from the "Bowl Show" table, fill it out, and return it to the ballot bowl before the raffle has started.
  • Winners will be announced at the end of the auction.

Basis for Judging

  • Size - Is the fish mature? Nice sized for its species?
  • Health - Is it well fed?
  • Color - Is the fish bright and vivid according to its species?
  • Condition - Does the fish have scars, scales missing, or parts of its fins missing?

Grounds for Disqualification

  • Fish is not healthy
  • Does not fit the category for that evening's show
  • It is decided to be too young
  • Bowl/tank or water is not clean

Helpful Tips

  • Transport your fish in the bowl or tank that it will be shown in. When transferring into the bowl/tank be sure to take every precaution to not shock your fish. Use the water from your tank. If you do use fresh water be sure to check the temperature and add a conditioner/dechlor to the water.
  • Use plastic wrap and a rubber band to seal the top so you don't lose water. Remove it once you fish is set up at the "Bowl Show" table.
  • Do not feed your fish just before or during its travel, or during the show.
