Comments

Fish were added to a Koi pond in June for mosquito control. Temp. varies from high 50's to low 90's. Epsom Salt (magnesium sulfate), and Pool Calcium Increaser (calcium chloride) are added to increase hardness. Baking Soda (sodium bicarbonate) is used to increase pH. Sunlight on the pond, Cattails, Water Lilies, and algae help control Nitrate accumulation with values ranging between 0 to <8 ppm. Fish grow extremely fast in the pond, feeding on natural food (mosquito larvae, daphnia, other bugs, and algae) all day long.
